Things To Know Before Your Massage
Thank for choosing Custom Kneads Massage & Bodywork for your health and well-being needs. I practice out of my home which is located at 1 West Lake View Drive, Vineyard (84059), (white house with teal trim and teal front door). As this will be your first session with me, below is some information about what to expect. Please contact me if you have any questions and I look forward to meeting you!
1. Day of your Session - Come ready to relax and be sure to eat balanced meals throughout the day. Drinking plenty of water is also important. Although some clients prefer to shower at home immediately before their session, as long as you shower that same day and you haven't sweat profusely just before your massage, you will be just fine.
2. Arrival - it's not a bad idea to arrive about 5 minutes before your scheduled session time. If you did not complete a client intake form online, this allows time for you to complete it before your session begins. It contains questions about you, what you do for work or hobbies, health questions, and allows you to let me know anything else you would like me to know before we begin.
3. Just before your session - I will review your Client Intake Form and ask you what your goal is for the session. Once we have discussed your needs and I have reviewed the form, I will give you a brief explanation of what massage or bodywork techniques may be best for you.
4. Once in the massage room - For Cranio Sacral Therapy (CST) sessions, disrobing is not necessary. For massage sessions - I will leave the room so that you may disrobe and lie down on the table under the top sheet. Most clients prefer to disrobe completely while others may leave an article of clothing on. During your massage I will use standard draping techniques. This means that I will only uncover an area of the body currently being worked on, then cover it again when the massage is complete in that area. Any segment where clothing is left on will be worked through the sheet.
5. During the Session (does not apply to CST) - My standard 60 minute or 90 minutes massage includes hot towel treatments on the back, neck, and feet. You may also choose from a variety of massage oils infused with all natural and organic essential oil blends that I've crafted to meet your needs. See the list below. But you can also choose an unscented oil as well.

6. Pressure during the Massage - As the client, your job is to relax! I may ask occasional questions about pressure. I will only go as deep as your muscles and tissues will allow me. Struggling through massage pain and holding your breath will be cues for me that pressure is too deep. Your body prefers me to be patient and let the tissues relax gradually. But, we can use a scale of 1 - 10. 1 means the pressure is really light and you can barely feel a thing. 10 would be excruciating pain. Most clients prefer pressure to be between a 6 - 8.

7. Pressure during CST - typically no more than 5 grams of pressure (the weight of a nickel) is used. Some techniques may require more than 5 grams of pressure. CST is known for it's light pressure but has the ability to be just as effective as a deep tissue massage.

7. After the Session - I will step out of the room and let you re-dress. You may use the restroom in the hallway if needed and I will provide you with a bottled water as it is very important that you stay hydrated following a massage.
8. Payment Methods - I take payments by cash, the Venmo app, HSA card, or a debit or credit card. I do not take personal checks. If you plan to redeem a gift certificate, please let me know ahead of time if you can.

I look forward to working with you, thank you!
